๐ฟ Hair Care
Everything I've learned about caring for low-po hair โ wash day routines, trackers, and the products that actually give results.
Know Your Hair
Hair porosity determines how it absorbs and retains moisture. Mine is low-po โ here's what that means and why it matters.
Wash Day
Step by step โ what I do every wash day for soft, moisturized results without product buildup.
Apply a light oil (argan or jojoba โ NOT heavy coconut) to dry hair before washing. This protects the hair shaft from hygral fatigue during washing. Leave on 20โ30 minutes.
Light oils only โ avoid heavy buttersLow-po hair builds up product fast. Use a clarifying shampoo 1โ2x per month to fully reset. Regular wash weeks, use a gentle sulfate-free shampoo with warm water to start opening the cuticle.
Warm water โ never cold to startThis is the most important step for low-po. Apply a lightweight deep conditioner, then sit under a hooded dryer or use a heat cap for 20โ30 min. Heat forces the cuticle open so moisture actually gets IN.
Heat cap or hooded dryer โ essentialRinse with cool or cold water to seal the cuticle back down. This seals in all the moisture from your deep condition and adds shine.
Cold water seals the cuticleApply a water-based leave-in conditioner to soaking wet hair (LOC or LCO method). Avoid heavy creams and butters โ they coat low-po hair and block moisture. Style while hair is very wet.
